How to use CALCITRIOL…0.25MCG?

Easily taken by mouth Calcitriol comes as a capsule and a solution (liquid). With or without food it is usually taken once a day or once every other day in the morning. Precautions to be followed before Calcitriol intake

Before taking calcitriol,

  • Firstly always remember to make the doctor aware of the prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking. 
  • Also if you are taking ergocalciferol (Deltalin, Drisdol) or have stopped taking it in the past few months tell that too to your doctor or pharmacist. 
  • For side effects, your doctor may need to change the doses of your medications or monitor you carefully. 
  • If you have high levels of calcium tell your doctor. As in this surely the doctor will direct you to avoid the use of calcitriol.
  • Also tell your doctor if you have or have ever had kidney or liver disease and if you have recently had surgery or are unable to move around for any reason. 
  • Also if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding tell that too to your doctor. Call your doctor if you become pregnant while taking calcitriol. While you are taking calcitriol you should not breastfeed.
